Using Twitterfeed and wordpress to update all your Hellotxt social media accounts

As your probably aware Im off on vacation for a week – So I thought I would get this posted real quick as ive updated the Internet Marketing Software Suite to work with Hellotxt – so now it will work with Ping.fm, Pixelpipe, Onlywire and now Hellotxt

Wordpress when used with Hellotxt can and will not only provide SEO benefits but also great targeted traffic – not to forget the followers you will gain -If you havnt seen how we can also use Ping.fm and Pixelpipe with a wordpress plugin then please take a look at the following url Pixelpipe WordPress Plugin

So here go's a quick explanation of how to set things up – I will also try to get things automated on my return to make it more hands free

Things you will need

TwitterFeed –
Wordpress Blog
Hellotxt account (with social sites linked to it)

WhyTwitterfeed?

We will be using Twitterfeed to send our blog post to from our wordpress blog – Our Hellotxt account will be linked to twitterfeed which will send our blog post to it and the linked sites.

Step by step instructions

Signup to http://twitterfeed.com – When you have entered your details – you will be taken to

Step 1: Name Feed & Add Source URL

So name your feed whatever you like – Eg: BigSEO

Then enter your wordpress blog rss feed – eg: http://www.bigseotechniques.com/blog/feed/rss/

Hint – Click test feed to ensure its ok

Click the advanced settings towards the bottom to ensure your happy with everything – You will however want to make sure that the url shortner is a 301 redirect and not a 302 -

To the general user there isnt much difference between a 301 and 302 redirect service because they both redirect to your chosen location-

On the other hand for us there is a major difference – we need to ensure we use a 301 redirect service as this tells the search engines that the redirect is permanent which will then make the search engines give credit and link juice to your site – If your unsure do a google search on the url – I think bit.ly is a 301 redirect and good to use.

Click continue to step 2

You will now be taken to

Step 2: Configure Publishing Services

You will see 4 available services you can configure with hellotxt being one of them

Click on hellotxt

It will now ask you to authenticate your hellotxt account service – It asks you for your hellotxt API user_key –

Login to your hellotxt account then go to http://hellotxt.com/settings/api/twitterfeed – Click on Enable this application

Wait a few moments – and you will be given a User_Key – it will look something like the following 6Q5n4WNDAY

Copy and paste this key into your Twitterfeed account where it asks you to enter the hellotxt API user_key

Click – get available service

Click on default from the drop down menu and then create service -

Your now done – Each time you update your wordpress blog – The post will be sent to Twitterfeed which will then send it to Hellotxt which of course sends it to all the social sites you have linked to it

I came across a great new tool today, its a wordpress plugin thats so simple to install that it only takes 3 clicks – I was actually amazed at how easy it was -

Backlinks are a very big part of your search engine optimization process. They show the poplularity of your website and everytime a search engine robot finds itself on a website that has your backlink on it then the search engine robot will find its way to your website.

The more a search engine robot stays and crawls your website the more the search engine assumes your website is popular. So its a good idea to get the robots on your site as much as possible.

Websites are like a city but on the internet. Just like cities require many highways – ports and roads for ease of access, in the same way websites require these. For websites this is achieved by backlinkg to it.

One thing you will need to keep in mind is that backlinking is about quality and not quantity so you want to make sure you are getting quality backlinks.

Quality backlinks can be from high authority sites which hold good google page rank (3+) and sites that are relevent to your website.

What are backlinks ?

If you ask me then websites are like cities but on the net. A well developed city will have many roads, a port, airport(s) and different ways of getting in and out of the city. In the same way your website needs many ways to get in. On the internet everything is done through backlinks. So the more backlinks you have the more credit you get given by the search engines.

A backlink is a link back to your website from another website. So for example if I link back to google.com from this website then this will be a backlink to google.

How do I create a backlink ?

Backlinks can be created in many ways. You can just type in your url like http://www.bigseotechniques.com – or you can add a backlink from an image like the advertising banners you get and once clicked it takes you to another site.

Then there is the SEO WAY which is the anchor text linking back to your site. Now this is done by using some HTML however its very easy and as backlinking is such a massive part of SEO its a good idea to memmorise the formula.

The reason anchor text backlinks are so useful is because we get to use a keyword to link back to our sites with. This is a very good way of telling search engines what your site is about and how other sites refer to yours.

So if you wanted to link back to this site then you could refer back to the site as 'SEO Tips' or 'sarch engine optimisation'. When the search engine robots crawl your site and come to the backlink they will read whatever keyword you used to link to this site and follow it. The robots would then store the information and keep notes of what keywords other websites are using to link back to your site as.

Now the trick in creating a backlink is a little HTML as mentioned above. It would be like this

Do follow backlinks

What are do follow backlinks?

For those that are not aware about do follow backlinks then let me explain a little.

In the world of Search engine optimisation we all know that backlinks are the key to improving your SERPS (search engine result pages) So if you want to rank higher on the search engines then you will want to concentrate on building your backlinks. In the past it was alot easier as you could go to any blog or forum and paste your backlink on there. The problem about this was that all the SEO agents would go to any blog or forum and start pasting links after links. The Search Engines didnt like this and it was very hard for them to know who to give credit to.

So the search engines teamed up with blog providers such as wordpress and other blogging platforms with a resolution to this spamming process. They introduced something known as NO FOLLOW links. No follow links are created the same way as backlinks however the website that you will add your link to will automatically generate a special code before the link which will stop the search engine spiders from crawling the link. So in actual fact its as if the link did not exist as far as the search engines were concerned. Or better still the search engines would still crawl the links but will not give the link any credit so it will not act like link juice.

A dofollow link is the opposite to a no follow link. So as normal you will paste your link on a blog or forum and the link will get followed with the credit going to the website – so in other words this will act like link juice.

How to tell a no follow from a do follow link

To spot a no follow link you will need to look into the source of the webpage. Look for links that have the ' rel="nofollow" atribute before them. This shows you that the website is following the no follow rule so if you was to paste a link onto this site then the link will not act like link juice.

The way I do this myself is by using a firefox plugin – The plugins name is NoDoFollow – its a great plugin that saves me much time. All you need to do is go onto any webpage and right click anywehere on the page. Your menu box will appear and it will have an option to click NoDoFollow. Once it has been clicked then all of the links on the page will get color coded. If the links are colored red then that means the webpage is using the rel="nofollow" atribute but if the links appear grey then all links are do follow.

Should we still post on no follow pages?

Posting on no follow sites can still give you much trafic from the site. I mean if you had a blog about DVD films for example and you went to a well used blog or forum which was using no follow links then its still worth your while pasting a link on the forum. Obviously try not to act spammy or your link will get removed. The reason its a good idea to do this is because your link will still be visable to all of the users using the site. So you will have the posibility to get traffic from this site.

Another reason its still good to paste links on no follow sites is because not all search engines act the same way as google. I have personally seen a massive increase in my serps when I used no follow links. This tells us that no follow links still have some value in the SEO world. However all of the links that I had which were no follow were from relevent sites – I also believe this had a big part to pay.

What should we concentrate most on No follow or Do Follow links?

Its without a doubt that myself and any other SEO agent would tell you to concentrate on Do follow links the most. The reason behind this is because you will get credit for the link by every search engine. The do follow links will deffinatly help you increase your SERPS where as No Follow links will more or less not help – Please note that no follow links can also help but more experiments are still needed to be taken in order to give an acurate answer.

Do follow links act like what we call link juice – the more link juice you have the better chance you will have to increase in the SERPS.

How can we find Do Follow Links?

You can find do follow links by searching through do follow blog directories – these can be found in any search engine – just type in do follow directory or something and you will get lists of directories which show do follow blogs – please note that many of the listings in these directories will need to be checked on a indivifual bases as some webmasters who use the rel="nofollow" atribute still submit their sites to these directories – Yes I know this is very annoying -

Another way would be to just check every website you land on with the firefox extension NoDoFollow plugin

I have a list of over 300 or so do follow sites that range from a page rank 3 to page rank 9. all of these websites give free do follow links.
